  1. Hopefully NECA has improved leadership since 2001 when I went begging for help with just such an issue and they failed completely. The outcome was personally and professionally disastrous.

    1. Meditation Meister... All boards come and go. I'm sure the 2001 board had its gifts and weaknesses as the current board has its gifts and weaknesses. I'm sorry to hear of your experience. We are trying to bring this into light while admittedly not having all the answers about it. Your experience... while troubling... may now help us to better address what is a challenging ministry to engage in. I would encourage you to share your story with us.

Consider taking part by telling your story. While your name will be kept anonymous, your experience along with others might better identify areas to address. We are glad you found this effort.

  2. We are in danger of glossing over the pervasiveness and seriousness of clergy bullying and harassment when we believe that more training, less over-functioning, and more education about conflict resolution will address the problem. Until our judicatory leadership exercises its proper authority for the care and protection of clergy, this damaging dynamic will continue.

    1. Noting that your claim that the judicatory leadership has a part to play in altering what is a troubling dynamic has merit, I would also hope you might allow the series of essays to play out. We agree. This does happen too often. Clergy bullying is serious. That is why we have asked a series of leaders to address so that we might get a better view of the terrain. We have intentionally tried to create a corpus of essays around a topic that does not have a lot of study. We recognize that for some reading these essays that we will go to far. For others, we will not go far enough. Your current assessment may remain the same when all the essays are released, but I hope you might stay in the game to read them. Blessings and we are glad that you have found this ministry effort.
